Glazing for businesses and developers

KM Glazing Services was set up to fit glazing for the new-build sector, and our commercial work has grown out of it. Today we deliver windows, doors and glazing systems for builders, developers and architects, from initial specification through to installation, and for businesses that need a new shop front, a new entrance or broken glass replaced.

On a commercial job the programme matters as much as the product. We partner with developers, builders and architects to deliver reliable, high performance glazing on time and within budget, and our team are skilled level 3 NVQ glaziers, fully insured on every project.

We work with developers all over the South East of England, across Kent, Surrey, Essex, East Sussex and London.

Shop fronts and curtain walling explained

Curtain walling is a glazed outer skin hung on the structure of a building rather than holding it up: the frame carries the glass and its own weight back to the floors, which is how an office or a modern development can have a facade that is almost all glass.

A shop front is usually a run of large glazed panels with an entrance door set into it, framed in aluminium for strength and slim sightlines. Altering a shop front usually needs planning permission, because it changes how the building looks, and in a conservation area the council will look closely at the design, so it is worth settling the drawings before anything is ordered.

Commercial glazing has its own requirements under the Building Regulations, from energy performance to safety glass and access at the entrance, and we work to the specification your architect or building control body sets.

How we work on a commercial project

  1. Specification and price

We look at the drawings or the site, talk through the systems and finishes, and give you a clear, competitive price.

  2. Made to measure

Every frame is made to the measured sizes of your openings, in the finish and glass the specification calls for.

  3. Installed to programme

Our level 3 NVQ glaziers fit to your programme. We meet deadlines and keep projects moving.

  4. Checked and handed over

We check that every door and window works properly before we hand over, and all our frames come with a 10 year guarantee.
